Chapter 13 – Don’t even think about hurting him

The words that came out of her mouth stunned Xzavon, he never would have thought she would duel him after killing that guy. He can’t tell her that he wasn’t training for 3 months but just in the spirit realm because that would tell her that he had a spirit. She’ll probably ask him to show the spirit to prove it, but he can’t do that considering that he can’t summon Uberas.

If he fights her, he’ll barely escape with his life. If he doesn’t fight her, people will say that he is weak, scared, and a loser. That would make his plan to become famous take a blow, but that blow may save his life this time.

Silvia was getting impatient, “Well, do you accept or not? I’ll tell you if you don’t accept then you’ll end up like him. If you do i’ll leave you in pieces, just barely alive.”

No matter what choice he picks he’ll end up getting hurt, if only he could have some time. Yes, time is just what he needs to be able to duel her. If he had time, he could power himself up and put on a show. The thing was that he didn’t have a lot of time, even if he used <Power Boost> he wouldn’t be able to survive a duel with her.

Thinking up to that point he literally gave up thinking of what he should do. He might as well go with the flow and accept the challenge, worst thing that’ll happen is he ends up in the infirmary for a few months.

Xzavon nodded his head, “I accept.” This was his only option, he took a fighting pose to get ready for her attack. Surprisingly she didn’t even step towards him, she just walked away. He didn’t ask why, and he didn’t care at least she was leaving. ‘Maybe she was just toying with me about the duel’

What Xzavon didn’t know was that when you accept someone’s duel, you have to go through a process. That process determines if the duel is acceptable, if both parties agree then 80% of the time the staff agrees to it. If both parties don’t agree then they can still fight, but it will be unofficial and that usually ends up with someone seriously injured. The process usually takes a week to complete, and then it is announced to the students whose dueling.

“That kid is dead, he has to duel Silvia. The bright part of this is that we get to see her duel, hopefully he last 30 seconds.”

“I wouldn’t count on it, I bet you he’ll try to run away before the duel. If it was me that is what I would do.”

The news that Xzavon was going to duel Silvia spread like a wildfire, in 3 hours basically everyone knew it was going to happen. Most of them felt pity for him, others didn’t know what to make of the situation.

Xzavon just went to class like on the first day, he learned a few things regarding mana. Sadly he didn’t get to choose any skills in the library, and he never went back.

In his first class, when the teacher learned that he didn’t choose a class yet that’s the first thing he had him do. The teacher took Xzavon to the ‘class’ room which provided a list of classes he could become. Mages were divided into 2 different types, Arcane mage which uses the power of mana to attack their enemies. Wizards who used the elements to deal with their enemies. Both had their ups and downs, Arcane magic had more power than Wizards, but Wizards had more diversity to use their skills. He picked wizard, it was quite simple actually. He simply clicked wizard and a light surrounded him, next his class turned into wizard.

You’ve changed your class to Wizard

You have reached the requirements to become a Mystic class, Arcane Spirit Wizard.
Requirements: Reach 4000 Spirit, Spirit Beast Ultimate or higher, Wizard class

Wizard has changed into Arcane Spirit Wizard
Arcane Spirit Wizard is a special class that is only available to those who possess high amount of Spirit. Arcane Spirit Wizards are able to use powerful spells to kill of their foes, some of the Ancient spells will cost you Spirit to use. Able to use the power of an Arcane mage and use the powerful spells of a Wizard, they are the ultimate mage. Using the power of your spirit you are able to learn Ancient Spells which were thought lost. Arcane Spirit Wizards are the only Mage class that is able to create their own spells. Creating a spell cost 1k per skill, and it increases by 1k per skill created. Created skills cost x2 the mana of normal skills.
Beware, once used, spirit can never be returned.

<Arcane Spirit Wizard>

Arcane Spirit Wizards cannot use staves or any type of magical weapon.

Using the power of mystical type of magic, they are able to produce magic faster and stronger than normal mages.

Cast time for all spells are 0, magic of all types are increased by 50%

<Arcane Creation>

Arcane Spirit Wizards are not able to equip any weapons.

To solve this problem they came up with a creation magic, this type is the only of its kind. Being able to turn you mana into any weapon of your choice.

Cannot make wands, staves, magic books, runes.

<Spirit skill – Lightning Creation>

Able to turn your weapon into lightning. With the effects of lightning your weapon gains a boost to damage by 25%. Cost 1 spirit or 200 mana.

<Arcane Spirit  movement>

Step foot into the realm of the spirits. Normal people will not be able to see you, only those with high perception will think they see you.

Note: 3 times per week. 50000 mana or 100 spirit. Last 10 minutes.

<6th Sense>

Able to perceive things that you cannot see, hear, smell, or touch. Your five sense don’t know anything, but the 6th sense is always aware.

This was a good class for him, it gave him the class of a wizard and arcane mage. This meant that he was able to use all the spells in both classes, if only he didn’t have that <Gods Betrayal> that only made him learn three attributes.

That means that he has to choose wisely of what spirit beast he has to have. The next two that he gets are going to play a big part in his life from now on. They not only need to favor his attributes, they need to be strong beast that are able to enhance his strength by leaps and bounds.

After class ended for the day, he was going back to his room. It has been a long day for him, he needs the break. Opening the door, he is greeted by his friends.

Jack was the first to greet him, “Hey man, long time no see. Been 3 months since you left us, and you didn’t even send us any word. All we know is that you were training, and the way you look now it seems like something has changed in you.”

Jack was right, something did change in Xzavon. With the knowledge of the past he was slowly changing, but he didn’t really realize it. Xzavon is doing some things that are relevant to the past without even noticing it himself.

Shina was the next to speak, “Forget that. I heard you have a duel with the vice president, how the hell did you tick her off. Man, I really wanted to see what you would be like in the future, but I guess we’ll need to get ready for your funeral.”

Jack chopped her head, “Shut up! Obviously he has a plan…you do have a plan right…?” The attention turned back to Xzavon, if he had a plan then they would be relieved. How would they know that he didn’t have a plan at all, not only that but he was reset back to level 1 and his stats gone.

Seeing as how silent he was, they took a guess and decided he didn’t have a plan. That means that he’s in big trouble, even if he somehow survives the match, he’ll be too injured to actually fight in the subjugation quest.

To take the attention off himself he looked at Eric with pleading eyes. Eric knew that Xzavon wanted him to help him take the attention off himself. Getting up he said, “Well since you’re back why not make the most of it. What’s your level now by the way, if it’s above 20 we can go to dead mans forest and hunt to level up.”

Dead mans forest was a forest that was a part of the academy. The academy breed monsters and released them into the forest so their students could hunt them to level up. It is called Dead Mans forest because a man once went into the forest and never came out. later it was found he turned into a zombie like monster, but that wasn’t the only thing that happened. Ever since then, more and more zombie like monsters appeared, surprisingly all of them were male and no female zombies. The school the barricaded the forest and killed everything inside, then they came up with the idea to breed monsters. The monsters would help their students learn real combat skills, and they can learn more about what they are up against.

Xzavon didn’t know what to say, he could tell them that he is level 8, but then he would have to tell them about him having a spirit. ‘Eh, they are trustworthy friends. Jim wouldn’t know I told them, if they don’t go blabbing their mouths off.’

“I’m level 8, but under certain circumstances i had to sacrifice my stats and level to gain knowledge and power.” Xzavon proceeded to tell them of his spirit and Uberas’ goal for him. At first they didn’t know what to make of it, but seeing as to how he seemed somewhat different they believed him.

Jack said, “So, what are you going to do? The monsters in the forest are all 25+, if you go in you’ll die for sure.”

Xzavon started thinking, his current goal is to get his levels back and increase his stats again. The only way to do that is to level, but since the monsters are all 25+ it’ll be pretty hard to kill them. Somehow he needs to raise his level first before going to the forest. Once he does that, he can level up easily.

Shina seen how he was deep in thought, but came up with her own idea, “Why not just get some EXP beads to level. Pretty sure a few hundred could get you to at least 15, 10 levels higher than you shouldnt matter much.”

Perfect, this was the perfect Idea to gain back his levels and stats. One level increases his stats by 5 and he gets 10 stat points per level. Currently he has 70 stat points, and if he gets some EXP beads then he can level up without harm. At level 15, he would have a total of 140 stat points, that wasn’t a lot but with the help of <Power Boost> it would be effective. Sadly he doesn’t have the money to buy the beads, and he can’t ask his parents for help.

“Eh, I’ll just hunt monsters with my current level. If i meditate from now till the morning I’ll have enough mana to beat them down.”

Seeing as to how he didn’t listen to Shina’s idea they didn’t ask why. If Xzavon asked his parents for help surely they’ll help him, then he’ll be able to increase his strength. It wasn’t that Xzavon wouldn’t ask his parents for help, it’s just that he couldn’t. They already said he would get no allowance, and if he came back crying to them about how it’s not fair then they’ll be furious with him.

What Xzavon didn’t know was that after his mom teleported him to school, Jim and her both took some people to go find and hunt down the Ice Phoenix. Even if he did go home, he wouldn’t be able to actually find them. It was truly as if he was alone at school with no help.

Strangely a week passed by fast, Xzavon meditated for three days straight. Increasing his mana pool by a lot, he then hunted a few monsters to increase his level to 15. With him having 140 stat points to put into one of his stats he put it all into Agility. As to why he did that, it was to increase his speed. If he wanted to be a mage then speed was something he really needed, because if his opponent closed in on him he would be a goner.

With his current strength it might not be enough to beat Siliva, but it’s good enough for him to survive. Thinking about it, he leveled up quite fast, a month of training with Jim got him to level 10, but training at the school helped him get to level 15 in a week. ‘Guess being in school has it’s perks after all.’

A few more hours and it would be his time to duel Silvia, he wasn’t that thrilled about dueling her. After he seen her kill that guy in front of him, he kept having this weird feeling that he would be next. It wasn’t wrong to say he was scared stiff at seeing the site of a dead body, but he didn’t want to do anything but live in that moment.

The first time you see a body the strong usually barely hold back, the weak are the first ones to run away and vomit. Something else that could happen is that you are so scared you just don’t have a reaction at that moment, and that is what Xzavon was like when Silvia killed that guy. He didn’t have a reaction, the dead guy next to him never got processed in his mind, the only thing that went through was he had to live.

Ever since he had his class change, Xzavon has been practicing with his arcane weapons. It was better for him to get use to this skill sooner than later. If he knew how to strengthen the weapon it would have more durability, and if he knew how sharp to make it then he could increase the attack. He also practiced changing the forms, from swords, axes, spears, shields and bows.

Since he couldn’t equip any staves, he needed something else to fight with. So far his favorite was the bow since he could create arcane arrows with void lightning effects on them. It was truly a ‘shocking’ experience for the monsters who had a taste of his experiments.

After a few hours of meditating, it was time to go to the dueling arena. His friends were walking with him telling him to hold out for at least 5 minutes. Even if he lost, he would get tons of face for surviving that long.

Once they arrived at the arena, the stadium was full of students. Practically no seats were left, you could see people standing over the railing or some floating in the air. It wasn’t wrong to say that when one of the student council members fought they really attracted a crowd. But who could blame them, who wouldn’t want to see someone famous fight. If you are able to study their moves maybe you could learn a thing or two, and if you happen to have a chance to get on their good side they might teach you a secret move.

When Xzavon parted with his friends they wished him good luck, and told him to do his best. The crowd didn’t show him any attention, mostly because no one believed that he would be able to  beat Silvia. If a 1st year student was able to overcome a 3rd year student then that news would hit the school, no country hard. They would be labeled as an absolute genius, and the king would probably bestow them a rank of nobility.

A teacher who was dressed in all black teleported into the middle of the arena. His enhanced his voice to say, “Today we have a special duel. Silvia rank 2nd takes on Xzavon who ranked 4th on his exam. I’m sure many of you are wondering why these two are dueling today, so we’ll have them answer.”

He gestured towards Xzavon to come towards him and speak. Xzavon slowly walked over, “Well…she said she always wanted to fight a Phenix….so she challenged me.”

What he said wasn’t a lie, but it wasn’t the full truth either. The audience didn’t pay it any mind, since they too wanted to fight people of different clans and test their own strength. You have to know that when you fight stronger people and survive, you become slightly stronger than before. Since most of the students who go to school aren’t from one of the 11 lords, they are always looking to fight people who bears the title of one of the 11 lords.

The teacher didn’t even ask Silvia why they were fighting, mostly because he was trying to show her face. It would be rude for him to ask her why, but since Xzavon is new and isn’t in the student council he can do whatever he wants to him. Stepping off the stage he announced the duel to begin.

Xzavon was going to use <Dash> to start the fight off, but since Silvia was stronger than him he opted not to. The best thing he could do was dodge and attack when he can. Sadly he had another drawback and that was he didn’t know what her class was. All he knew was that she used a gravitational spell to force her opponents down.

That wasn’t the case for her, she didn’t use any spell to make it feel like something was pushing them down. Her class wasn’t a mage but a warrior, the skill she used was her killing intent. Since her level is so much higher than Xzavon’s, it felt like he couldn’t move when her aura seeped out. This is why he thought it was a gravitational spell that was being used, but how could he know that gravity type of spells were rare. They are so rare that they are kept a secret, usually no one knows how to use them, but the people that do are strong. They can overwhelm their opponents just by changing the direction of gravity, forcing their opponents to be unstabilized. Pushing weight down on them, they move fast while their opponents move slow as a snail. Truly one of the deadliest types of spells ever found and created.

Since Xzavon didn’t move, Silvia was the one who darted at him. In less than a breath she was right in front of him, but suddenly disappeared. Xzavon didn’t know what happened, but he felt a shiver down his spine and he hurried to duck.

*Swish*

Her leg flashed right above his head, taking a few strands of hair with it. She was trying to take his head off, that strike caused the wind to be sliced. Seeing as to how he dodged she thought he had a good foundation, but she wouldn’t understand that it was by pure luck he dodged.

After Xzavon ducked, he rolled back and used <Arcane Creation> to create a white bow. This surprised everyone, no one, not even the teacher had seen this type of skill before.

They never seen it because it was exclusive to arcane spirit wizards. It is to say that hardly anyone could become this class, because no one had the requirements to unlock it. It wouldn’t be totally wrong to say Xzavon is the first to become this class in the world.

Creating an arrow that was black at the tip and dark blue on its shaft, he knocked it back and released it.

*Swish*

Insanely fast, is the only word you could use to describe the arrows speed. After he released it, it created a sonic boom, as if it teleported it was inches away from Silvia. Less than a second passed and she collided a weapon with the arrow.

*Boom!*

The crowd was shocked, never would they have thought that Xzavon would be this strong. Xzavon isn’t all that strong, it’s just that he caught Silvia by surprise with that attack. If she knew what it was she would not have tried to deflect it.

After the dust settled down, Silvia was still standing glaring at Xzavon. The weapon she tried to use to deflect the arrow was broken, it was still crumbling away in her hands as the side effects.

She never would have thought that this junior of hers would have such a dominating skill. A smirk appeared on her face, “You Phenixs really live up to your reputation. Too bad, you could have lived a little bit longer if you never got involved with that guy.”

She rushed towards Xzavon, bringing out a small green dagger and trying to slice at his neck. Before it had the chance to pierce him, a hand grabbed her wrist.

Turning her head to see who grabbed her, the person said, “Don’t even think of hurting him!”
